80 years ago, on 10 April 1931, the most romantic man I have known breathed his last. No, I am not an octogenarian or even close to being one... I am just about 21 and so much in love with Kahlil Gibran or shall I say his works.. The Prophet, The Broken Wings, Tears and Laughter... and so many more.
I have not known another human who can so gracefully flirt with his readers through his most amazing, yet simple wielding of language. There is wisdom in every word, love in every syllable and truth through and through.. that all you want to do is keep reading, or rather enjoy his flirting with you. And at the end of all the flirting, he leaves you feeling as pristine and clean as ever.. not an inkling of guilt, but deep admiration for the being that he might have been and for the truth that you realize because of his being-ness. You flow like a stream, purifying every emotion in you and realizing yourself so much that you would wonder how such a man could have lived in this institutionalized world and yet so easily, effortlessly, expressed wisdom in love.
